I always bribe people with foodPosted by Elettaria on March 29, 2004 at 19:48:41: In reply to: Re: Hennaing is absolutely addictive posted by Catherine Cartwright-Jones on March 29, 2004 at 12:47:30: Made a double batch of my famous apple flapjacks for my last seminarof term, then traipsed round the department feeding random academics with the leftovers. The three women I managed to run into said yes (they included the head of department and the secretary, so good moves there); the three men said no, from reasons ranging to having just had jaffa cakes and carrot cake in their own seminar, to having a mortal dread of dried fruit. The way to my step-father's heart is through old-fashioned English puddings, so I invented a vegan bread and butter pudding for him (make a tofu custard, basically). My parents are coming up for a few days for Passover, and it's also my step-father's 70th that day, so I need to be able to produce a wheat-free, egg-free cake by then. Experiment #2 with ground almonds will be starting shortly. (I'm the vegan.) But cake-making in general is fairly easy, I used to trot out chocolate cakes at the drop of the hat. I don't drink, I have to bring something to parties, and they've been known to make their way to uni too. Senna sounds most exciting, keep us posted. What colour is your cat...at present?
