By the way, just found an interesting comment in a book I'm pretending
to read, "The Female Malady" by Elaine Showalter. "The woman with her
hair down indicated an offence against decorum, an improper
sexuality." (p11) She's talking about Ophelia, I think from an early
modern viewpoint. So here we all are, flaunting our beautiful long
hair and dying it a wanton red to boot. Hussies!
