VashmaPosted by Elettaria on March 31, 2004 at 22:26:03: In reply to: Re: But hamster ovaries are fascinating posted by Catherine Cartwright-Jones on March 29, 2004 at 09:53:46: I thought I'd try having a hunt through the search engines usingalternative spellings, and if you spell it "vasma" you get a lot more coming up. It seems to be a traditional Arab fabric (or possibly garment), but I also found the following links: http://www.hennapage.com/henna/forum-archives/messages/48110.html which basically says that "vasma" is Hindi for "indigogera argentea" (spelt wrong). Er, isn't that another of your sites? And here's another message from there (just before I was about to look up variations starting with a w, as well): http://www.hennapage.com/henna/discuss/messages/19202.html This one's rather mysterious, as the links with the actual word "wasma" weren't there any more. Looks like quite a debate was going on. http://www.enhg.org/b/b27/27_11.htm http://www.ibiblio.org/herbmed/eclectic/kings/indigofera.html http://linnaeus.nrm.se/botany/fbo/i/indig/welcome.html.en http://pharmacos.eudra.org/F3/inci/incichi.htm http://www.gina.antczak.btinternet.co.uk/CU/II-K.HTM "Washma" isn't bringing anything useful up. "Wasma" is coming up everywhere as indigo. (And occasionally as "black henna", grrr.) If you put both "indigo argentea" and "indigo tinctoria" into Google, you notice that some hair colours list both, suggesting that they do indeed produce different colours. Any help?
