My herbal vinegar rinsePosted by Elettaria on April 2, 2004 at 21:36:32: In reply to: Hair rinses: recipes please! posted by Elettaria on April 2, 2004 at 21:29:56: This is for thigh-length hair; shorter hair could happily halve this.1 tsp cider vinegar large sprig of fresh rosemary *or* 2 herbal teabags up to 12 drops essential oil (usually two different oils) Put in a litre jug with about 300ml boiling water. Leave to steep while you're washing your hair (which takes me 20 min), then fill the jug up to the top with water to bring it to the desired temperature, throw away the teabags, and use. For really shiny hair, fill it up with cold water. Herbs used: chamomile, horsetail, thyme, nettle. Essential oils: loads of different ones, but the most common are rosemary, cedarwood, lemon, Roman chamomile, clary sage, lavender, patchouli (don't need much of that), geranium Effects: generally improves condition of hair, especially shine, and makes it smell lovely. Some herbs/oils in particular are good for conditions like dandruff (tea tree, patchouli, cedarwood, rosemary). I sometimes use rosemary hydrosol (/hydrolat/aromatic water), either by adding a tablespoon or so to my final rinse, or just spraying my hair with it if it needs a little attention.
