Lots of rinses!Posted by Lady Cougrrr on April 4, 2004 at 16:04:05: In reply to: Ooh, do tell posted by Elettaria on March 31, 2004 at 21:10:27: My hair is four feet long, down to the bottom of my bum cheeks! Ijust love it! The color lasts a few shampoos. I find tea rinses (like raspberry zinger) lasts a lot longer, actually I still have some stain in it from a year ago! The only bad thing that I find is that my porous ends grab a lot more color, and I have to really concentrate on my roots to make them absorb color. I'm forever fussing with my roots, trying to stain them! Here are the rinses that I've tried and their results: coffee (deepened and richened reddish brown) black tea (did about the same as coffee, but lasted longer, not quite as red) rosemary (enriched brown and darkened somewhat, stimulates scalp and hair growth but I really hated the smell, my fiance thought it smelled like urine! :o ) raspberry zinger (added really red hightlights to my hair, lasted a long time) rhubarb (very intense blonding if dried in the sun. If you use chamomile tea, the results are progressive, but if you use rhubarb the effects are immediate. I used it for streaking highlights. cinnamon (added spice hightligs, but I found out I was allergic! Very irritated red patches of skin showed up wherever it touched! It looked like I had a horrible disease!) clove (warm yellow hightlights on lighter hair, warm deep tones on darker hair, smells nice!) rosemary sage (covers gray, deepens and enhances brown, but again I couldn't stand the smell) I want to try a mint rinse (maybe mint green tea) because the green tea would deepen and enhance my color and the mint is supposed to be very healthy for your scalp and stimulate growth like the rosemary. But it would smell nicer to me than the rosemary. If I think of any other rinses that I've tried I'll let you know! As to my name, I think the cougar is my spirit form and guide. When I was a teenager, I got within 5 feet of a giant wild cougar! It was up in the trees and we just stared at eachother for what felt like an eternity. I felt a kinship with it, and felt such peace for those moments. Then I turned around and walked away. Everybody was surprised that it didn't attack me, but somehow I knew it wouldn't. I even look like a cougar, with brownish-red tawny hair and green eyes. So Lady Cougrrr it is! The "grrr" is the wild side that people don't see right away!
