Also not Catherine...Posted by Alison on April 8, 2004 at 22:13:12: In reply to: Dear Catherine........New to Henna!!! posted by Keri on April 8, 2004 at 19:24:44: : Hello,: : Hi, Catherine. I emailed you the beginning of this week, so I just : thought I'd try you here. I ordered some henna from you and can't : wait! : : Well, I've never ever ever, dyed, or done anything chemical to my : hair, except for a perm back in the 6th grade, and I'm 25 now. I : have waist length, dark brown hair, that i think has some red : hightlights in it. It's very healthy so I'm still kinda nervous : about doing this. I'm not one to cut of their hair if something goes : bad. I really needed a change, but I don't want scary hair. How can : I get deep, dark red. I keep hearing about drying out hair with : henna, and I definately don't want to ruin my healthy head of hair. : : Will coffee work as good as lemon juice? How bout some cloves mixed : in? Do I have to strain it then afterwards? Please, I need some : advice and reassurance. Thanks. -Keri Cloves and coffee will both point your henna towards a dark red. The coffee should be acidic enough to break the cellulose in the henna so the stain gets out. Water will work, but not half as well. It will NOT dry your hair out. That little bit of misinformation has been going around for decades.
