Disaster has been avoidedPosted by Morgan on April 14, 2004 at 21:57:40: Whew!!!That was a close one! My suitemate has been dying her hair with synthetic dyes for maybe 8 years. A while ago, after dying her hair black, she had an allergic reaction, and was hospitalized. She had awful rashes and an all around bad time. The doctors decided that it was probably "something" in the black hair dye. This semester I got a chance to tell her about PPD and how it can do some bad things once a person becomes sensitized to it like she was. Well, she bought a box o' Clairol tonight and wanted to fix up her tresses, but she wanted to check the ingredients by me first. YUPPERS...P-Phenylenediamine. PPD. She's glad that we caught it in time, and I'm glad for Catherine and all the other excellent educators in the henna community! Thanks. My suitemate thanks you too. Morgan
