Very helpful, and makes perfect sense, thank you!
The staining versus painting wood analogy makes it very easy to
understand.

I used body art quality so have no qualms about anything else having
got into or onto my hair which is good.

Just wonder about this anecdotal evidence that heavy duty
conditioners seem to remove some of the colour? If any of the
substances in a conditioner are actually able to penetrate the
keratin scales like the henna does, could they in theory bind with
the lawsone molecule and carry it away?! Maybe not, and probably in
no significant quantity even if theoretically possible.

Anyway if significant loss of colour does happen not too hard to
remedy, with another henna application.

I was just extremely curious about it all, and I love learning this
kind of stuff! It does seem annoying that virtually every other
source of information I've come across is giving out the notion that
henna "washes out" in a few weeks. I have even seen the "coats the
hair" theory in taken to extreme with claims that it "suffocates" the
hair shaft!

Anyway, the colour on my hair does seem a little lighter the last
few days, but could just be the final stages of the settling process.

thanks as always Catherine!
