You should test but I know people that have waited only one month.

Everyone I deal with want to do everything possible to cover the grayhairs, which can be a little difficult.
I add some tea tree oils to the henna paste to help the henna
penetrate the hair. I have recommended that they leave the henna in
their hair as long as possible. I have wrapped up my mother’s hair
so she can sleep with the henna on overnight. I also tell them to
wait as long as they can before they wash their hair again. It seems
to help.
