If you use good-quality henna, no. You'll turn brownish red. The orange that you see today is lawsone that just soaked into the hair. It takes a few days to turn darker. You can add other things to the mix (I use clove, which smells good too) to get a darker shade. Take a look at Blondie, now Big Red, in the mixes section. That's what she looks like after hennaing once. Your hair will get darker each time you henna it.
