Henna experience gone badPosted by amy on April 26, 2004 at 03:33:48: Okay, I've been using henna about 1-2x a year for 10 years, red andblack... I didn't know they weren't all natural until I read this site tonight. The only bad experince I had before tonight was once when I used a metal spoon to stir it (2nd time I'd used it & I couldn't find a wooden spoon, figured, what could it hurt, just a quick stir before using my gloved hands) well, I wound up then with black color with green highlights. Was using black again tonight, a different brand than usual, and I don't know what went wrong. It seemed dryer than usual, but adding water didn't seem to help, it just got it everywhere, including spilling it on my bathroom floor in the process of getting more water. (Had to go from bathtub to the kitchen for more bottled water because I don't trust our well water in the tap). Well, it was being impossible, I figured part of the problem was my gloves were to big, so for the last bit, I took my gloves off. Problem one: Usually my shoulders and hairline wind up a light tinged green that goes away in about 24 hours, I figured washing my hands right away I'd get less than that, but no, my hands and nails are tinted a fairly dark green. Problem two: I realized while washing my hands that I had forgotten to take my wedding ring off, and immediately started yelling, "Get it off of me!" and shampooing my hair like mad. Well, it's now only a little bit darker with just the slightest of green tint in the front. How do I get the green tint out? Cover it up? (I'm even considering Kool Aid because I figure a slight purple tint would be better than a slight green tint!) I'm going to this conference though that I wanted to look really nice & professional for--which was the whole reason for dyeing my hair to begin with! Problem three: Dispite being cleaned up as soon as I got the stuff out of my hair, my white linolium in the bathroom has these DARK green spots from where I spilled the henna. Is there anything to get that out?
