So I've bought the lemons...Posted by Elettaria on April 27, 2004 at 13:59:50: OK, everyone, big mud hair treatment happening on Thursday. Joanna iscoming round and we will be experimenting with three packets of herbal stuff (as described in my last post), pectin and so forth. It should be enought to cover my hair, which was thigh-length this morning but has just had a couple of inches off so is probably more like, er, bottom length. (There's just no ladylike way to describe that length of hair.) Fia recommended 500 ml per 100 g plant powder, so that would be 1.5 ml in total. Of which half should be lemon juice, I understand? I've bought eight lemons, will that be enough? Can I top up with vinegar if I run out of lemon juice? If I get serious quantities of leftovers, can I freeze them? The pectin, which is in liquid form already, is meant to be refrigerated after opening and used within a week. I suspect it's going to be more like 8 or 9 days. Do you think the world will come to an end because of this? Any other suggestions for ingredients? I listed the ones in the herb powder in my last post, there's a fair bit in there. I'm tempted to put in a few drops of sandalwood just for the lovely smell, although there will already be nice herbs involved so maybe I won't bother. I've not slathered mud on my hair in years. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm trying to remember all the tips for doing it. Let me know if you think I've left anything out. The location will be my bathroom. It's not very big, but the floor is tiled. I suppose putting newspaper down would be an intelligent move. Right, what else. Old clothes for both of us, and an old towel draped over my shoulders and back. Get mud all over hair, using a wooden spoon and starting from the base of my neck with the rest pinned up out of the way as I progress. Wrap it all up in cling film, shove a towel turban on top, and watch a silly film or something while we wait. Hop into the bath and try to get as much out as possible there, then turn the shower on, pray for decent water pressure, and use lots of conditioner. How much should I worry about staining things? Towels? Clothing? Will it be safe to sit in my cotton dressing gown, for instance? Should I barricade myself in the bathroom while it works, or am I allowed to sit on my sofa? It's my own flat so I don't want to wreck the soft furnishings, or anything else. If it's a nice sunny day and we're really pushed we could probably do it outside, but outside means sitting in the local park surrounded by lots of puzzled students. Well, it's a sort of park, it's called the Meadows and very pretty it is too. Mind you, we've both raving exhibitionists so we might not mind that...
