Wheeeeeeeeeeee finally found Vashma.Posted by Catherine Carwright-Jones on April 28, 2004 at 17:09:17: Vashma (Washma) is a name for the half-fermented state of indigo! There are several different words for indigo in its several different states! There is the plant and dried leaf. There is the half-fermented state. There is the fully fermented and oxidized state. Perfectly reasonable there should be different words for the different states, (like wheat, four, dough, bread) and that in different languages these would have different expressions of such. I can see why it was listed as green dye, but was associated with black and dark brown hair dye! If you wet up some of the half-fermented indigo, and plop it on cloth, it first bleeds out green, then that oxidizes to blue. Duuuuuuuuuuuh it all fits together now. Now, to go back and fix those pages. That was one LONG dig!(falls over backwards smoke pouring out of ears)
