Thank you all!Posted by Sactored on April 28, 2004 at 22:33:27: I've been a henna head for nearly 20 years, started in mid/late 20'sand am now 52 (how did THAT happen?). I bought whatever, even the old Nestle Egyption Henna (is that product still around, kinda orangey) as my natural brownish-red highlights hair began greying early on and I liked the streaky but natural look it had with henna. Over the years, as my hair greyed it became redder and redder. I was thinking I would just like to let it go grey, but shaving my head, that unsightly grow out or chemicals were not an option. It still looked cool, but too brassy for my (hopefully gracefully) aging self. Thanks to the tips here, I mixed some ground cloves, coffee and a bit of lemon juice to the stuff, let it sit for an hour and gave it a more time on my head. Voila! It's the closest it has ever been to my old color, but still red, kinda auburny, looks and feels great. I also must find a local source of quality henna. The Natural Foods CO-OP has pretty good and inexpensive henna, but they are often out of stock...Anyway, thanks again...
