Agar-agar for the gel method

I used Fia's gel method with pectin for doing a deep conditioning
treatment on my hair (senna and so forth). I was using liquid pectin
instead of powdered, and although I discussed it with Fia it must have
been a different one, because it didn't really seem to make much
difference. It was the only sort of pectin my local HFS had, and my
local supermarket doesn't stock it at all.

Agar-agar, on the other hand, I might be able to get hold of. It's a
gelling agent made of seaweed, and thankfully it always comes in dried
form (usually powdered, I believe). Ideas, anyone? I'm going to be
hennaing a couple of my friends in a few weeks, so I need to figure
something out.
