This is eerie...I just showed your pic to my dh and he thought it was me! I got a surprise when the photo first came up, it could be the back of my head! hee hee. I keep meaning to send Catherine a photo since I henna'ed my hair for the first time, but now I don't have to LOL. Well, first I am amazed at the colour you got starting from dark brown! It looks almost exactly like mine and I am a natural auburn/redhead with a lot of coppery highlights to begin with. I also found that the lighter hairs and of course the greys took up the dye differently and were a lighter orangey colour than the rest of my head. However, the one assurance I can give is that the orangey glow will definitely die down and mellow quite nicely in a few days. Once the initial shock of having such a vibrant colour passes you may find yourself wanting to stay that way! It is a VERY lovely colour (if I say so myself!) I'm also interested in experimenting with indigo or a herbal/henna mix containing indigo. See the mixes page and Elektra's result on dark blonde hair. However, just lately there were a couple of people saying that their lighter hair took up the indigo with a greenish cast, which now has me hesitant -- my hair is a bit more orangey than I would have liked, but I DO really like it and I'm not sure I ought to "mess with success". Besides which, repeated hennas (say about once a month or 6 weeks) will darken the colour anyway. One last thing: We curly girls have to accept the fact that our porous hair takes up the henna VERY easily; I don't know how long you left yours on, but after all the hairbrush tests I did, I found that just under an hour from start to finish was PLENTY of time to get the colour I wanted...but also as a curlygirl, I'm glad I'm not subjecting my fragile hair to chemicals, so I will stick with the henna! take care. Let us know how it looks in a few days.
