curly-haired henna

so i'm sitting around and i happen to realize that my brother has a
huge big shoulder length white guy fro full of prime virgin hair
that is just begging to be hennaed. i've done my own hair a bunch
of times, but mine isn't as curly as his. so my question is... are
there any hints or tips or anything i should know about hennaing
really curly hair? other than a having a lot of mud and a lot of
patience, anything else i need to know?
