: Carol,
:
: I dyed mine for the first time a week and a half ago; I used 100 g.
henna and 2 oz.
: black walnut ~ it is made from ground hulls. I purchased mine the
from Castle Art &
: Design. I had more gray than I realized and the results I got were
a little more orange
: than I wanted - doesn't go well with my skin tone.
:
: I just re-did mine (waiting for it to dry now!) -- this time I used
a different henna -
: Prabda - because I liked the pix of post-Prabda :-) -- I used 100
g. of that and added
: 1/4 cup indigo -- didn't want to go *dark* so much as "cool down"
the orange. I also
: added a little beet root powder, I think maybe it was 1 oz? It was
about 1/4 cup, too.
: And those (Prabda, beet root, and indigo) I bought from
EveryDayHenna (link below)
: ... they also sell walnut powder there. I did not use walnut
powder this 2nd time. I
: mixed the henna with lemon juice last night, and added the indigo
and beet root
: about an hour before applying, with grape juice to add the extra
liquid.
:
: My hair is still drying, so I can't tell you for sure the results -
I will post a picture later
: today. But it looks so far to be a deeper, darker, less brassy
color - although perhaps
: still more orange than red ... I was hoping for closer to burgundy.
:
: I had less than 1/8" of gray hair visible (since I'd just dyed it)
so I'm also coloring-on-
: color rather than over gray ...
:
: Does that experience help any? LOL!

:Hmm... no picture yet, Kim? How does it look dry? Can you see a
substantial difference? Maybe the orange (if there's still an orange
haze) will go away leaving a deeper red this time; I think that if
there is henna at all in it, there's going to be orange at least for
a day or two. I'm very very curious to see how it turned out for you!
At the very least your hair must be very soft.
On that aside, did you find any loosening of your curl? I was afraid
that would happen when I did mine, but I noticed no difference at
all. I have wondered if repeated applications would cause this.
Waiting with bated breath to hear the verdict on colour...
