Henna and Chemically Treated HairPosted by Mary M. on May 21, 2004 at 22:29:54: I used henna regularly in the 1970's and enjoyed the effects verymuch. Today, with thinning hair, I'd like to get some of the "thickening" benefits of henna but hesitate because I don't know how it would interact on my chemically-treated hair. When I color my hair it is fuller and wonderfully shinny. But the extra fullness wears off fairly quickly even though the color/shine remain. I usually need to re-do my hair about every 5-6 weeks. I color my hair as close as possible to the natural color (dark brown) to give it body and cover gray. I use a 20% peroxide solution with L'Oreal Excellence liquid hair color. Do you know if I would be able to use colorless henna on top of my regular hair color or would it diminish or dull the effects of the chemical hair coloring? Would it be beneficial to help thicken and give more body to my color-treated hair? Thanks.
