I don't know about down the line ...Posted by Kim in MI on May 22, 2004 at 17:20:11: In reply to: Curious--Question for those of you with grey hair and/or ash colored hair--should I go red? posted by Jane on May 22, 2004 at 15:08:25: I don't know how long I'll keep henna-ing my hair; my grandmother has brilliantwhite hair, and I would love for mine to someday be like hers. I am hoping that because henna just coats, rather than penetrates, eventually it will wash out /fade and I will let my gray grow ... for now, though, I'm enjoying "playing" - I'm 65 and have a fair amount of gray, probably about 10% in the front where I pull it back, and maybe closer to 50% lurking behind where I pull it back LOL ... maybe 25% overall? I have hennaed twice. The first time was a VERY bright copper color, an unnatural orange on the gray part ... the second time seems to have given those parts a darker, deeper color ... it looks much less unnatural on the white hairs. And overall it all blends nicely - it's got that multi-level "highlighted" color that people pay big money for synthetic dyes to do. So ... I don't think my salt-and-pepper looks scary-orange on the gray parts, LOL, but I also do plan to stop, someday, before I'm totally gray or white ... :) HTH kim - henna newbie
