indigo/water resultsPosted by Kim in MI on May 22, 2004 at 17:27:36: In reply to: Re: indigo/grape juice posted by Tara on May 22, 2004 at 14:25:07: Well, at least we know to abandon the blueberry quest :-) Thanks for doing thelegwork for us. Maureen at EveryDayHenna said that the indigo is fine and almost oily and might not really "wet" unless I used HOT water -- which I didn't with the grape juice. I abandoned my grape juice batch, and nuked my water-only batch, and saw an almost immediate dye release! YAY! I guess that was the problem. I put my 3 strand tests in, one for 15 min, one for 30, and one for over an hour. They all came out about the same LOL ~ a dark ash-brown. My darks are closer to my original color, dark brown with a *slight* red highlights, and the grays are more like a medium ash brown. A little hard to tell on my poor strand tests, they're so curly and drying crazy and none of them enough to REALLY get a feel for ... and my hair isn't quite long enough that I can hold them up to my head to compare with my attached hair ... I'll see if maybe I can scan them ... I think if I were to dye-over my hair with indigo - essentially the 2 step process that others have used - I'd get a dark brown like my natural color, and the gray would be well covered ... just not burgundy :) Kim
