: How soon after hennaed can you wash your hair?

As soon as you like. I use a lot of conditioner to get the last
henna bits out of my hair, then shampoo and condition as usual.

: Will shampooing wash out the colour?

Nope. Once the henna is in your hair, it's there. The only way to
get rid of it is to cut the hair off.

: And how to retained the dye on the hair for longer duration?

It's a permanent dye. The brilliant luster of freshly hennaed hair
(otherwise known as the dayglo orange factor among those who don't
crave it like I do!) seems to fade because henna oxidizes over time
until it reaches its final shade, a bit darker and less orange-y than
when you first take the henna off. This takes anywhere up to a week,
and then that colour is permanent until you re-henna, add indigo, add
highlights, or cut it off.

: I am new to henna but a friend told me that I must not shampoo my
hair
: straight after washing henna from hair and shampoo actually wash
out
: the dye.

Lies. Frankly, she's wrong. The lawsone molecule, which is what
colours your hair, gets into the hair itself and binds with the
keratin. It's not something you can just wash out, because it
doesn't sit on top of the hair. I've heard of oil treatments that
remove colour, but I'm skeptical of them.
