Especially if you have already established a relationship with a stylist. They could save swatches of hair that has had different processes -- perms, straighteners, dye, whatever. Which you could then test henna on. I have not witness the hair-melting scenario, but I have definitely witnessed the results of henna done too soon over dye -- a ghastly, steaked, greyish-black and green mess. Fortunately it was not my hair....
