Hi Everybody!Posted by Natasha on June 2, 2004 at 23:18:37: I'm a cross-over forum person -- I do henna body art and generallypost on the other side of the Hennapage, but I;ve hennaed my hair since I was 15...which was a looooong time ago. My current mix is body art quality henna (since I do that anyway I have a lot hanging around -- and it doesn't clog the drains as fast) with a "brew" of 1 bag red zinger tea, 1 bag chai tea, 1 bag regular tea, some cloves all simmered in lemon juice (since our water is extremely alkaline). I try to henna every 6-8 weeks when the roots start showing. I've hennaed for so long I'm not sure what my natural color is -- some sort of non-descript brown, I think. :) But henna is natural, right? When people used to ask me if this is my natural hair color, I used to say, "yes" with a straight face b/c henna is totally natural. Now I'm older, not quite as vain, and tell people that it's the same henna as on my skin. They're always amazed. People are often easily amazed... An Indian woman once told me that if you henna your hair every 15 days it will never go gray... I think that 1)if you henna your hair that often, you'd never see any gray if it happened, and 2)you don't have a very busy life so maybe your hair won't gray as fast as someone with more demands on their time... The woman who related that story was herself, unable to henna very often since she had 3 small (but adorable) children... but she said it was what was passed down to her.
