I haven't known henna to increase its brightness on hair with time.
On skin, henna goes from bright orange to brown -- and henna on my
hair goes from brassy the first day to toned down a bit a few days
later.
Since the color builds up with repeat applications, it can't hurt to
reapply and leave it on for 6-12 hours.
