: I posted these questions on a long hair site that I visit and I
: thoght it would be fun to also post them here.
:
:
: 1. How long have you been using henna and what brand do you use?
: Over 25 years, started with that same Nestle Henna w/chick on can,
which mainly highlighted my emerging grey (heck I was only in my
20's) then used what I could find or afford (Hennalucent, Avignal,
Colora[truly grainy wretched stuff, aways made a mess, orangey
results] and for the last about 10 years, the bulk stuff at the Co-
op in town, with decent results, a couple weeks ago, after finding
this great resource, I tried some body quality henna, with cloves
mixed in and the lemon juice and zowie!
: 2. How long do you usually leave your henna on for?
: Used to leave it on for an hour at most, as that was the
recomendation on the products...last couple times, 2 to 3 hours...
: 3. How often do you use henna?
: Big old major job about every month or so, but with touch up on
the roots (that grey root thingee bugs me...I'd likely just go grey
now but I can't abide the root thingee and dang it still looks
good...
: 4. Do you still use a protein conditioner or protein deep
: conditioning treatment?
: I use a bit of not too heavy conditioner everyday when I shower in
between shampoos.
: 5. What is your method for removing the henna from your hair? Do
you
: use shampoo, conditioner or just plain water?
: Do you wash it out in the shower or sink?
: I've always just shampooed it out in the shower and put a ton of
conditioner on it so I can comb out the coiled medusa mess which has
been doing witchy stuff on my head.
: 6. What benifits if any do you feel you get from henna?
: My hair is healthy, shiny, and as it has always been straight and
fine, it gives it a bit of body and thickness. And, damn, although
I am 52 years old and supposed to be above it all spiritually, I
sure like the compliments! Especially an attractive younger man
gushing over it (and I am reasonably happily married)!
: My answers:
: 1. I have been using henna off and on for years. I just reciently
: started to use it again and hope to continue with it.
: I used to use Rainbow brand but after trying a body grade henna I
: think I am going to stick with that.
:
: 2. I usually leave it on my head anywhere from 6hrs to overnight.
:
: 3. I like to henna ever 30-60 days. But, I do sometimes touch up
my
: roots inbetween.
:
: 4. Unsure what to do on this one. Looking forward to read
everyones
: answers.
:
: 5. In the kitchen sink works best for me. Sometimes I use shampoo.
: More often it is just water or a CO wash. I also use a ACV rinse.
:
: 6. After a henna treatment my hair is more well behaved. It
doesn't
: get as frizzy and it more shiny, conditioned and less tangly. Also
: after I have used henna for a few months I will notice my hair
gets
: stronger and I get less splits and breakage.
