I just posted my bleached strand result pictures a littlefurther down...I did it yesterday, after a few tests on hair from my brush. I've hennaed my hair pretty much monthly for a year now, and I have been wanting to bleach out a streak or two to dye pink. I mixed Jerome Russell Bblonde Lightest&Brightest Powder Bleach and 20 volume peroxide and applied it to a few strands. I spread a sheet of tin foil under the selected pieces and rubbed the stuff on with my gloved fingers (didn't think to get a special brush thingy), then folded it up a few times, like colourists do (much more clumsily, though...) I left it on for an hour. I think if you use 30 or 40 volume, it will take less time, but it IS stronger stuff (I was too chicken, given that I was using - eugh- bleach, as it is, on my finally-healthy hair). I guess if you want more accuracy and less mess, you could have a hairdresser do it, but do strand tests first. As for blue dye (or any other funky colour you may want) I bought Manic Panic, which is semi-permanent and safe over henna. It says on the label that it actually works better on bleached hair, so when I'm bored of orange-popsicle streaks, I can bleach it a little lighter and use that. Hope that helps you. Have fun! : hello! ive used henna before, and adored the color,(nice amber/wine : shade), but have never tried to combine...treatments. what i'm : wanting to do is henna my whole head, then bleach out one strand and : dye it blue. I won't ask if theres a natural blue dye; thats asking : to much, but is it safe to bleach over henna? if not, i'll have to : figure out how to isolate one strand for 5 hours (incidentallly, any : advice pertaining to exactly how i'm to manage that would be welcome!) : Thanks!
