well, I didn't use coffee but I have used cloves, (about 2 heapingspoonfuls.) although it did lend towards slight brown, my hair is
still quite reddish. in the past, I have tried coffee hair-rinse
(once) and it made my scalp itchy and irritated, so I did not want to
use it in my henna mis. others have used it for their mixes though
(read the various links on the "mixes" page) and it seemed to have
worked for them with no irritation. good luck
