Did it actually dye your hair? I have tried making a tea and doing it
that way, which did not add any color. Maybe with the addition of the
pectin it would though, since it would cling to the hair better...

: There is a slightly different version of the gelled version of
henna (see down below on
: the forum).
:
: Mix the henna powder with lots of warm liquid (even more than
what's in that recipe)
: - it shouldn't be anything like a paste, just like liquid with some
henna added - to get
: a dye release. Then strain the liquid to get most (or all) of the
fixed particles out of
: the henna - you're basically left with a liquid henna dye. Then
boil a smaller amount
: of liquid with the pectin and whisk that into the liquid henna dye
to gel it.
:
: I've tried that version too - it's a royal mess to prepare and for
me it was more pain
: than the pros I got out of it. There are some definite advantages -
you'll get a very
: lightweight application and a very painless rinsing out procedure
as there are
: virtually no fixed particles left to stay on the hair. For you with
the dreads I guess this
: is what you want to try if you want henna color on them...
