How much henna do you reckon we'll need?Posted by Elettaria on June 17, 2004 at 18:44:09: Girlfriend is the first on the henna list, and she has chin-length,slightly layered hair, not hugely thick. I somehow picked up on this site that she'd need 200g, but from looking through the Mixes section it sounds as if 100g should be ample. I've picked up two packets just in case, as we don't want to run out half-way through, but what do you all think? Any tips for hennaing from the top of the head downwards? I used to do it the other way round for me, but K has bleached/dyed highlights on the top so we want them to get the extra time that the first-hennaed bits get. Her hair is dark brown with aforementioned bleached/dyed bits. Any recommendations for deepening the colour, apart from leaving the henna on for as long as possible (the strand test was 4 hours, I'm hoping to coax her into longer for the real thing). I've bought ground cloves already (ratio of 1 in 6 seems to be the current advice from here, any updates on that?) I've heard a few people mention raspberry zinger tea. What does that do, and is it more or less the same across the board? Any other recommendations? Does it make a difference what acid we use? I do have some leftover red wine vinegar around somewhere, although when I hairbrush tested that on my own hair it seemed to produce a lighter, brighter result than lemon juice.
