Henna + Chemical dye

Hi, my hair is naturally light brown and about as long as the bottomof my ears. About a week ago I hennaed my hair with Light Mountain
Natural medium brown, but it definitely did not come out as dark as
I wished.. a little on the reddish side instead. So I did it again
yesterday, and although I like the texture, it's still not as dark
as I want it. My question is, how long must I wait before I can put
a chemical dye in it, or at least put a few highlights in? If that's
out of the question, what would be a good way to get my hair a
darker brown without having a bad reaction? I want a pretty dark
brown. Thanks anyone for advice.
