Will henna actualy kill lice?

hmmm...

I know henna is mentioned in some religious texts as a good cosmetic
thing. If henna kills bugs could it also be recommended by those
texts not simply for vanity's sake, but because using henna would
lead to better hygene ? (forgive me if you've already covered this)
