Potential hair henna convert - Too soon for henna...and using indigo to get a less coppery color?Posted by Erika on June 21, 2004 at 12:37:38: I am seriously comtemplating switching from hair dye to henna. Iused to use Clairol Natural Instincts, but they changed their product recently and now it contains PPD. This was a product that supposedly washes out in 28 washings. It's been over a month since I last colored, but do you think it's too soon to henna? Also, the reason I hesitated to use henna before was that I used crappy henna when I was a teen and got bozo orange hair. I don't think that would happen now with my hair being light brown, rather than bleach blond and with using better quality henna, but.... I'd really like to use indigo if it's possible to get a more burgundy and less copper color. There seem to be more recipes for hair henna than for skin henna! Do I mix a small amount of indigo with the henna powder? Would I use clove powder for a darker red? How much? Is lemon juice the best thing to mix with like when you do body henna, or is it too drying? Do I mix the henna powder with hot liquid? How long should I leave it on if I want the darkest possible color? Can I reapply if I want to get a darker color? Does the color develop over a couple of days like on the body? Thanks for your patience, Erika
