blondingPosted by Natasha on June 21, 2004 at 17:16:20: I decided it was time to lighten up for the summer. My hair hasgotten fairly dark -- albeit a gorgeous Irish Setter dark, thanks to henna...but in my memory, I have much lighter hair, and the cognitive dissonance when i look in the mirror has made me try to lighten it... Soooo, I got a bottle of John Frieda's Beach Blonde gel -- it's basically a gel formula of hydrogen peroxide. I should have been more cautious by strand-testing first, but I decided to dive in head- first (as it were)...glopped the stuff on, and then spent the rest of the day with stiff hair. This morning I rinsed it out, and hooray! No green! It's actually lighter! Now I'm thinking of getting some Cassia to "dilute" my henna when I henna again. The peroxide is not so good for hair -- I can tell it's thinner and weaker now -- and I'll need to henna soon. Natasha
