I've always been a freak about clean hair (have washed mine in
buckets of cold water, or a cold stream when camping) so I've always
applied mine to dry hair (which is usually quite clean, although I
don't shampoo daily anymore, it usually gets a rinse and a bit of
conditioner) and it's turned out fine, unless I used crappy henna.
