Trying higher quality, fresh henna is always a good idea. Also, youmight try shampooing with a high detergent shampoo to make sure that
your hair is really clean and has no residue in it. Maybe your
roots are taking less stain because they are more well hydrated with
oils than your tips, which tend to be dryer. Some hennaheads have
specified that they shampoo thoroughly and skip conditioning just
before a henna application. Good luck.
