I can't get an even result even though I have tried giving the roots a head start for 15 min or so before doing the rest of my head. The ends and length always produce a different (brighter) colour result. I have very porous hair, and I imagine that the older the hair, the more "worn" and weathered it is with probably more open cuticle to let the dye penetrate. At any rate, it doesn't bother me too much, because I know I had a lot of colour variation throughout the length of my hair even with the natural colour. Everyone does. I think we're just so used to seeing unnatural chemical dye results on everybody nowadays that we forget our hair is made up of a lot of different shades to produce our own individual colour. Thats what I like about henna, and why I think the end result with henna is much more natural than with a chemical dye job.
