Help? posted by Rainbow-Vanessa on July 1, 2004 at 03:16:07: hi,as i understand it, baking soda & honey are both alkaline, which helps clean the hair (i don't know why). i mix 2 heaping tbsp baking soda with warm honey to a stiff paste, then add 2 drops rosemary essential oil & a drizzle of boiling water. Mix to the consistency of heavy cream & in the shower, pour it around over my scalp. rinse realllly well. alkaline washes have to be followed by an acid rinse. i use 2 tbsp cider vinegar to a pint of water, work it in & rinse it out. any vinegar will do, or lemon juice, lime juice, citric acid in water, etc. my hair was fine & greasy and this works great! for some people honey makes them greasier, though. for me it added shine & body. more info on no-poo washing at http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=92603 (you gotta scroll down past the laundry soap recipes) kris
