I didn't mean to imply that I use the red wine "on its own" but rather as the only liquid in the henna mix. I have heard of people getting nice red highlights using rinses made from cranberry juice, red types of herbal teas, etc. It follows that you might get the same type of results, although I would think very temporary (and very smelly! LOL) with red wine. It does stain to some degree on its own. I personally wouldn't have the patience to rinse my hair repeatedly with something in order to get a very subtle colour. I don't have the exact link offhand, but if you google for a site called "pioneer thinking" I know they have a page devoted to natural hair rinses.
