how can we speed up oxidization?

there have been so many posts here the last couple of days from people who have aproblem with the initial orange... I was just wondering, is there a safe way to speed
up the oxidization on hair?
I know that alkalis work on skin (see link below), but putting ammonia on your hair
doesn't seem like something that would make hair look prettier. is there anything else
that might help? heat, for instance? blow-drying?
or can we think of other alkali things that would not harm the hair's structure too
much?
