How long to leave henna on?

I have hennaed several times with Light Mountain henna. I have always left the henna
on for about 30 - 40 minutes. I have sometimes ended up with orange hair, which I
am trying to avoid. Some info I have read here suggests that leaving the henna on
longer will deepen the color; I assumed that the longer it was on the brighter it would
get. So, my question: if you leave the henna on longer, will the hair get MORE orange,
or will it end up LESS orange because it gets deeper? Thanks!
