when frozen, so that it would be too hard to extract smaller portions.

It did come in a plastic bag of sorts, although its one of those
sealed all around, with very little space left on any side. I'll
probably have to cut off a corner to scoop some out (pouring, I have
found, results in a lovely green-brown cloud of henna ;P) and then put
a clamp on that to reseal it. But if I then put the bag into a second
bag, or a freezer container, it should probably be airtight enough anyhow.
