Now another: question, if I combine black tea and coffee with henna will I get : more of a brown. The other thing I want to try and achieve is sort of : yellowy golden highlights rather than red. I've never found that even : in artificial dyes, but that's my real hair colour and it suits my : skin colouring a lot better than red. Anyone had any good successes : with achieving a light brown, goldeny colour? I'm looking for a : lighter version of what Sarah achieved with her diabolical grape : juice, mix. You should read Catherine's page http://www.hennaforhair.com/science/whatsinit.html Henna is red orange and coats your hair, you will not get golden brown with henna no matter what you mix with it. If you don't want strong red highlights on your base hair color, don't use henna unless you want blue black and follow it with pure indigo. I would not recommend coffee as an additive. It's color tint would be very short term and probably gone by the second wash. Having coffee on my scalp for 4 hours had me grinding my teeth equivalent to having taken a couple of the old NoDoze pills. On my test strands I could not see any difference after a few washes. Not worth it, I'd give Walnut powder a try if I was intent on more brown than red and hope I wasn't allergic to it.
