As a pharmacologist, she has initiated a study in the University of Afhad, in Khartoum on women who use or work with henna. Henna is derived from plants and is used by women to enhance the hair colour or as decoration on the skin. In the Sudan, women prefer darker hair, so to achieve this effect, they are using a kind of henna that contains the chemical paraphenylene-diamine:
