Every time I have done it myself, although the first time I had
rather horrified 6 and 10 y/o accomplices to tell me where I had
missed a spot, lol.
I've gotten quicker every time. My hair is shoulder length, but fine
and curly, not as much there as it looks, and it helps that its
naturally red so I don't need to be overly thorough (although there
is a major contrast between my natural "red" colour and what I am
with henna, so I do have to mind the roots.)

It took me only 15 minutes last time, however, I have gotten messier
each time (the first time I did it I didn't get so much as a blob
ANYWHERE!)
