I have curly, naturally dry porous hair, and I : find that it still loves and needs as much moisture as I can give it. : : Having said that, henna does leave it feeling thicker and looking : shinier which I LOVE. The only other thing I find is that the henna : tends to fade a lot faster than I would like it to, and I do wonder : if it has something to do with the conditioner-only routine. There : was some debate here on the boards a while back about whether oily : substances and deep conditioning can help remove some of the henna : dye. Some people tended to think it is possible, but most agree that : henna is permanent. : : I think its just my super porous hair, losing the pigment faster. I : just find it disappointing 'cause it can tend to look a bit brassy as : it fades -- the initial colour I get is so rich and deep. I use an ordinary drugstore shampoo every day, but three or four days a week I use a rather expensive salon conditioner. It's really worth it. It contains a sunscreen, a UV filter for colored hair that keeps the sun from fading the color. Red fades fast in sunlight, and I really find that this helps, and it only takes a tiny amount. It's Redken for color-treated hair, in the red bottle. It's about nine bucks but it will last two or three months, easy. I have a lot of gray, plus a bit of curl. The henna smoothed me out quite a bit but the Redken makes it really gorgeous, and it does help a lot with fading and brassiness.
