Re-hennaing the grayPosted by Lisa on February 5, 2004 at 22:03:36: I'm almost ready to henna my hair but I have concerns about thegray. I have bra strap length auburn hair that gets darker brown toward the top of my head and I have alot of grey at the temples. I hennaed some hair that I saved from a haircut (10") the first mix was the henna Erika gave me from her freezer which she said was kinda old and it turned the gray a light orange. I mixed a new batch of Al Aroosa henna and terped with lavender and tried that, I got a darker orange on the gray. So here's what I was thinking of doing: hennaing only the gray hairs first with a terped mix including turkish coffee (which has cardomon powder in it) and adding a handful of cloves while it is brewing as well as lemon juice. I want the grey to turn more of a brownish red than orange. then after about 3 to 4 days, I would henna my whole head with a regular terped mix without the coffee, cloves and cardomon powder to get the reddish glow that I want to get. Or would it be best to do the whole head first then go back and redo the grey with the coffee mix? How many days should you wait to rehenna? I'm not sure what terps to use yet because I know the coffee will make it smell a little funky on the little bit of grey. I was thinking maybe a combo of sandlewood and geranium just because I like that combo. Are there any known reactions from these on hair? If not lavender or tea trea is a possibility also. Thanks for any help Lisa
