If you want to do it the natural way, lemon juice and sunlight does the trick. If you're willing to risk peroxide (strand test every single time you do it!) then it can lighten your hair reasonably safely over henna or be hennaed over. However, the red you get from peroxided hair is more of a copper than a true red, and it has to be kept up.
