PPDPosted by Nicki on August 7, 2004 at 16:52:08: : Hello,: : I have been doing some research on the PPD issue. I have regularly : colored my hair for a very long time. I have had no reactions with : my scalp. I am going to find out though if the color product my hair : dresser uses contains this product. The concern that I have is with : wearing black clothing. I develop a rash after wearing certain types : of clothing that are black. Not all of them cause this reaction. : Most of what does I am narrowing down to having spandex in it. I : have learned to recently swim and bought some swimmers a lot of which : have black in them. I seem to develop this rash the most severely : when wearing them. Perhaps it is the fact of being wet in them. I : have also noticed with some clothing if I sweat I develop a rash more : severely in those areas. I am not sure if anyone can enlightened me : in this forum since this seems to directly deal with hair. But, I : would be most appreciative of any suggestions anyone can offer. I am : hoping that with frequent washing of these items they may get : better. Thank you. My daughter was exposed to ppd through a black henna tattoo. B4 applying the black henna they used a transfere that contained a form of rubber, also they coloured in the tatto in various colours....... After patch tests were carried out because of her skin reaction to the tattoo it has been found that she is not only highly sensitized to the ppd but also to rubber and certain clothes dyes.all this was caused by the application of the ppd. She is now going to be tested for latex reaction as it has also been known to cause this.
