: K, whose hair
: had gone a very nice reddish-brown (and the bleached bits went deep
: red), claims that the colour faded off really quickly.
have you seen that colour that she calls faded?

: She said that
: she's hennaed in the past and the colour didn't take, although I don't
: think she did it properly in the past.
:
: I used the same henna on both, Hasina I think it's called, and it's
: pure henna and hopefully is body art quality. The only difference is
: that I added some cloves to K's mix. Any idea what is going on here?
I think that when people say their henna fades, they mean that it darkens, i.e.
becomes less orange and more brown (due to the oxidization). I can see how, when
your own hair colour is dark brown, the difference between the completely oxidized
hennaed parts and the roots is hard to tell, because the colour of the oxidized henna
is close to the natural hair colour. so they think the henna disappears from the hair,
but it doesn't, it just gets closer to their natural colour because it
oxidizes.

this is the only rationalization I have been able to come up with for the claim that
'henna fades'. it definately doesn't fade on my hair, it just gets browner, less red. but I
can see the difference with my (dark blonde) roots, so I'm sure that the henna is still
in there.

does that make sense?
